Commonly Asked Support Questions

Here are the questions that were most commonly asked on the Helpdesk during the last month.

Question 1: Why have I been added to the QMUL Model Skills Review course?

Answer 1: You are a named Personal Tutor/Academic Advisor for students in your School and by being added to this course, you are able to see your students’ Skills Review results. All first year undergraduates are expected to complete the Skills Review this semester and to then meet with their Personal Tutor/Academic Advisor, or other relevant staff member, to discuss their results. These discussions should focus on Model module choice for the next academic year where appropriate, or wider issues relating to skills development and other extra-curricular opportunities available at QMUL. As a named Personal Tutor/Academic Advisor you should have attended a training session related to this process. If you haven’t, please contact your School’s Model Contact available at the QMUL Model QMplus pages and the FAQs directed at students, may also be helpful.

Question 2: I would like to make a recording in a room that is not q-review enabled. Are there any equipment that I can borrow from the E-Learning Team? 

Answer 2: Yes, the E-Learning Unit have a variety of software and hardware available which can be lent out to members of staff and students within the university. To find out more, click here.

Question 3: My colleague is not receiving an email notification when I post to the forum on my QMplus course. Can you help? 

Answer 3: Yes, can you check the following:

  • they are correctly enrolled on the course
  • they are subscribed to the forum
  • their notification preferences is switched on to receive forum post notifications

If they still do not receive the notification, then please raise a ticket with HelpDesk providing us with details of the forum, a link to the course and the names of users who are affected.

Question 4: Can I share my recording with a user outside of the university? 

Answer 4: Yes, you can. To do this, please follow the instructions given in this guide.
