‘Chat’ allows a group of people to communicate their thoughts via text in real time. A screen displays all those who are taking part and displays an image next to each person’s post. People can respond or ask questions via the text input box. All communication is recorded and can be reviewed by both staff and students at a later date.
- Click on the TURN EDITING ON button (top right of your screen).
- Locate the ‘topic’ where you would like your resource to be displayed.
- Click on Add an activity or resource, select Chat and click Add.
Step 2: Setting up your ‘Chat’
The ‘Chat’ options screen opens and you are able to add a title and description and also set when the ‘Chat’ will take place. Fill in the ‘Chat’ options as shown in the image below. Then screen click on SAVE AND RETURN TO COURSE. Your chat will be displayed on your course page.
Step 3: Entering the chat room
Click on your chat link. You will be taken to a screen that displays the title and description of your ‘Chat’. Click on ‘Click here to enter the chat now’. A window will appear with all those who are in the chat room and a text based chat can take place in real time. To communicate, type your message into the text box and click SEND.
