What are the risks associated with having a large course?

Large courses (over 2GB)  have shown to have issues when backing up and therefore are at risk if anything does potentially go wrong, as IT services are unable to provide them with a backup.  Also, they contribute to a bad user experience as the courses are slow loading, this especially affects usability for those students accessing QMplus with mobile devices.
