We provide support for a hardware-based audience voting system called TurningPoint. A number of Schools have purchased large numbers of TurningPoint handsets for their students. There are currently TurningPoint receivers permanently installed in 11 teaching spaces on the Mile End and Whitechapel campuses.

We are currently unable to support the use of TurningPoint hardware in teaching spaces on our campuses.

We do not have any licenses for the web-based version

We have institutional licenses for Mentimeter and Padlet

Getting clickers/handsets

If you are a member of staff in the following Schools, then your School has access to TurningPoint handsets, please contact your school office to find out how they are being used:

  • Undergraduate Medicine (MBBS) – if you teach on the MBBS programme, you can borrow clickers from the Student Office in the Garrod Building.
  • Economics and Finance
  • Biological and Chemical Sciences
  • Engineering and Materials Science

If you are not in any of these Schools and would like to borrow some handsets to use the system, the E-Learning Unit has around 75 handsets which you can borrow on a per session basis. Please email us on

Buying new clickers or receivers

We do not have any central funding for buying new TurningPoint equipment. The receivers in the lecture theatres have licenses which will last until 2028. If you need to get hold of new TurningPoint hardware, you will have to find the budget for this yourself and contact TurningPoint directly to make your purchase.

For further information about TurningPoint at QMUL including tutorials on how to use the system and tips from members of staff who currently use the system, please visit the Resources for TurningPoint users area on QMplus (QMplus login required).
