QMplus Assignment Types
BEFORE THE UPGRADE:
In QMplus Moodle 2.2, the following assignment types were available:
- Advanced Uploading of Files (integrate with TII, limited functionality)
- Online Text (integrate with TII, limited functionality)
- Upload Single File(integrate with TII, limited functionality)
- Offline Activity
- Submission Manager (OCM)
- Turnitin (TII) Direct Assignment (full TII functionality)
Advantage: QMplus 2.2 had the ability to integrate Turnitin into some of the standard assignment types (with some limited capabilities), via an external piece of development known as the Dan Marsden plugin.
Disadvantage: Having so many assignment types often brought confusion around which assignment to use and why use one type over another.

AFTER THE UPGRADE
After the upgrade, the following assignment types will be available:
- Assignment (standard assignment, no Turnitin integration)
- Turnitin (TII) Assignment (full functionality)
Advantage: More features and functionality have been added to the standard QMplus (Moodle) assignment, and as a result there is no longer a need to have so many different types of assignments, as the features have been rolled into one assignment – and can be turned on or off when setting up the assignment.
Disadvantage: The Dan Marsden plugin has not been updated for Moodle 2.6 and is no longer supported. Therefore the ability to integrate Turnitin into the standard assignment has been removed.

After the upgrade, staff will have a choice of two assignment activities in QMplus, and will need to made a decision as to which one is more appropriate, depending on what functionality is required. We have provided a comparison chart of some key features below, to help to make that decision.
