Welcome to this month’s newsletter. With the start of a new academic year fast approaching, we are sharing important information about training sessions and upgrades to help you get set up. Get to know more about our new TELT Ambassadors and a new joiner from the wider digital education community at Queen Mary.
Upcoming TELT Workshops and Sessions
Enhance your skill set and dive into our supported technologies by joining one of the upcoming TELT (Technology-Enhanced Learning and Teaching) workshops and sessions. Whether you’re looking to learn new tools or deepen your understanding of existing technologies, we have something for everyone.
We especially wanted to highlight the Teaching Space Awareness sessions and the Simplified AV sessions for those who are getting ready to get back into teaching in September.
Keep reading for details about upcoming sessions.
QMplus Media player update – benefits and potential action required
TELT are pleased to announce that the QMplus Media player was successfully upgraded to version 7 on August 5, 2024. Staff and students can now enjoy the enhanced player, which offers several new benefits. We will discuss some of these improvements below and highlight an error affecting a small number of videos that requires additional action.
Keep reading to find out about all the brand new features, and check if you need to take action.
Reading Lists Online and QMplus
The way that reading lists integrate with QMplus has changed slightly following the latest upgrade. Some quick instructions for embedding reading lists are now available via the Library website, please share these with any colleagues that may find them useful.
A benefit of getting this done now is that it will allow the Library acquire the resources you need to make available to your students in a more timely manner.
Meet our new TEL Student Ambassadors
We are excited to welcome five new Student Ambassadors to the TEL Team! These talented individuals will be joining us as part of our Welcome Week session delivery team, continuing the outstanding work started by our first cohort of Student Ambassadors.
Check their biog and get to know them.
Let’s Meet … Akpene Agbo
This month we sat down with Penny, UX Designer at the Digital Education Studio in the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.
Penny sheds some light into what the role of UX designer does, shares her favourite hobbies outside of Queen Mary and of course answers our ‘quick fire’ questions!
