Commonly asked support questions

Here are the questions that were most commonly asked via The Helpdesk during the past month.

Question 1:  I can’t see all the students I’m expecting to see in my QMplus course area, why is this?
Answer 1:  At the end of the academic year, students are unenrolled from the QMplus course areas via a SITS feed. Some students may have been removed prematurely if the schools have given them accommodations for resits/appeals. If this is the case, the students can be temporarily re-enrolled to the course areas.

There have also been cases of some delays in the SITS feed updating the user enrolments – this had been taking place once a day as a manual process until recently, but is now fixed and the feed now runs 3 times a day, as expected.

Question 2:  How do I know whether my course area can be rolled over to wipe student interaction in readiness for the new term, or whether a copy should be created?

Answer 2:  QMplus course areas can be ‘rolled over’ when ALL of the students have finished interacting with them. If there are any activities which are still active, whether they are for dissertations, resits, ECs, etc – then these course areas will need to be copied, so that the original can continue to be available for students and the new version made ready for the incoming cohort of new students.

To find out more about the rollover process, please take a look at this guide – or contact us via the Helpdesk for us to assist.

Question 3:  Which virtual classroom technology should I use for my teaching and events?
Answer 3:  There are a number of considerations to be made when deciding upon a virtual classroom technology for your teaching and events, such as: what platform is used as standard by your school/dept, the style of delivery and what tools are required, how participants will be engaging with the sessions, how they will be accessing the sessions and how many will be attending, etc.

We are running comparative workshops to assist you in your decision making, which look at all of the above (and more) for Zoom, Collaborate and Microsoft Teams. Workshops are advertised in the E-Learning newsletter and online via the CPD booking website.
