Editing videos uploaded to QMplus Media

For: Staff and StudentsApplication: QMplus Media

QMplus Media provides an easy to use online video editing tool. If you need to top and tail your video, create a copy of it or chop it into several smaller videos, the online editor will do the job for you.

Step 1: Access QMplus Media via the QMplus homepage.

  1. Log in to QMplus
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to click the QMplus Media button.

Step 2: Login to QMPlus Media server.

    1. At the top of the page, you should see the following icon and your name. Click this.
    2. If not, click ‘Guest’ then select ‘Login’. After logging in, you should then see your name similar to the image below

Step 3: Access your QMPlus Media content library

      1. Click your name, then click ‘My Media’.
      2. NB: If you haven’t uploaded a file, you will want to click ‘Add new’ then ‘Upload File’ and follow the instructions here.

Step 4: Open the particular video options

        1. Next to your video that you would like to edit, click the pencil ‘Edit’ button.

Step 5: Launch the video editor

        1. Next to the video, click ‘Launch Editor’

Step 6: Familiarise yourself with the video editing interface

You will come to the video editor page. If you’re familiar at all with video editing, you will see the basic components that allow you to make edits.

You can see the playhead (setting where the video starts playback) and start/end markers (showing where the video will start and end when played in its entirety). Also you can see a transparent bar that indicates where the video is currently playing.

You can use these tools to do small edits on your video. The most useful one is using the start/end markers to trim a video: let’s try this now.

Step 7: Edit the video by making trims using the start/end markers

    1. Drag a start/end marker inward to trim the video

  1. Preview your edits by pressing the play button.
  2. When you are finished making your edits, you can either save (and overwrite the original) or save a copy (save a new copy with these edits).

Your video is now edited! You can go about your normal processes of embedding content in QMPlus like might normally do – see the following guides on how to do this.

Did this answer your query? If not, you can raise a ticket on the online Helpdesk or email: its-helpdesk@qmul.ac.uk . Alternatively you can also request a particular guide or highlight an error in this guide using our guides request tracker.
