Let’s meet… our TEL student ambassadors: Ella, Vandy and Keenal

26 June 2023 Posted in: Announcements, Articles Tagged: , By: Alysa Bramble

Following a successful pilot project with the HSS Digital Learning Manager, the TEL Team have recruited 3 student ambassadors (from the HSS project) to revamp our TEL student induction programme over the summer. Work has already started and we hope to have a new student induction programme ready for September 2023 – co-created by our own QM students.

Let’s meet our student ambassadors.

“Hello!

My name is Ella and I am starting my second year studying Law at Queen Mary. Having been a Student Digital Champion for the [HSS] project launch last year I have learnt so much about the student voice regarding the learning technologies at Queen Mary- both the admirable strengths, and areas for development.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with both staff and students to reflect on the learning technology at Queen Mary and indeed implement change to improve student experience.

I am excited to be involved in Phase 2 of the project which involves revamping the induction programme and I am looking forward to see our progress as a team over the next few months.

When I am not working, I love to play netball, travel and play games with friends and family!”

“Hi!

My name is Vandy and I am a first year student heading into my second year in English and European Law (LLB).

I really enjoyed working for the HSS pilot project asĀ  it gave me a good insight into how technology services can be used to enhance our learning experience. By providing student input, I was not only able to be help improve these services, but also to better inform my peers of the resources available to support their learning. I look forward to continuing to work with this wonderful team.

Through this current initiative, I hope to make inductions more interactive for students by including fun games and prizes. As well, I enjoy finding new ways of developing engaging content and resources for students to reliably use throughout the year.

Outside of work, I am an avid photographer and enjoy curating various photographic projects.”

“Hi!

My name is Keenal. I’ve just completed my second year of Geography with Business Management with a year abroad, so I’ll be studying in New York from September!

I really enjoyed the first [HSS] project as we researched the student perspective and learned more about how Q-Review captions work.

With this next phase [the student induction project] I’m looking forward to incorporating research from the previous phase and using the student voice to create tangible differences to the quality of TEL inductions.

One fun fact about me is that I have a black belt in taekwondo!”
