QMplus performance issues – October 2017

1 November 2017 Posted in: Announcements, News By: Alysa Bramble

We wish to apologise for the inconvenience caused by the recent QMplus issues and would like to reassure you that we are working very hard to resolve the issues as quickly as possible, with as little disruption as possible. In order to make improvements, we will, on occasion, need to make updates to the QMplus environment that may result in brief outages at short notice – where possible we have kept these to a minimum and during out of hours. Please also be aware that we remain in constant communication with all relevant parties and will update you should there be any significant changes.

Below is a summary of the recent events and the timeline for when they occurred:

Since QMplus was released in July and particularly since the start of term, intermittent performance issues have resulted at times in a slow service and occasionally in some downtime. However, please note that overall availability has still remained high due to timely interventions by QMUL IT services, theme designers and our hosting provider.

The causes of these problems have been quite varied: some are related to the new theme and others to the technical infrastructure. The timeline below describes the main issues identified and resolutions applied. Some investigations are still ongoing but please be assured that any degradation of a core service like QMplus is taken very seriously at the highest levels of IT services as well as with 3rd party providers.
