Staff Changes in the E-learning Unit

20 December 2017 Posted in: Articles By: Alysa Bramble

The E-learning Unit is currently undergoing a significant change in staff. Two members of the team are on or about to go on maternity leave.

Alysa Bramble – Our part-time E-learning Applications Manager – has just had a baby boy! Alysa’s maternity cover is Kwabena Adjei-Owusu. Kwabena joins us from work as an Educational researcher at UCL and at various academies in London. Kwabena joins Rose Heaney on a job share. Get in touch with either of them if you, your colleagues or your students need training or development; if you have an idea for how an e-learning application might be enhanced; or if you have issues with e-learning support via the Helpdesk.

The Head of E-Learning – Stella Ekebuisi – is also going on maternity leave from the start of the Christmas period 2017. Her maternity cover will be provided by Brett Lucas.

We are alo very sad to announce two departures from the team. Gary Schwartz – Our Learning Technologist for Video and Multimedia – is leaving us to pursue his freelance work in photography and video. Gary has worked at Queen Mary in various technology and e-learning related roles at IHSE, the Wolfson Institute, the Blizard Institute and finally here in E-learning for the last two and a half years. Gary spearheaded work on the recording booths, the second of which will be opening in the New Year on our Whitechapel campus. Gary’s replacement will be joining us in early  February 2018.

Finally Has Yate our testing officer is also leaving us after a six month appointment. Has joined us after a longstanding post in SLLF.

Gary starred in a video made as part of a series to assist Spanish students with videomaking skills:
